IT’S one thing starting a business. It’s another thing altogether making it a success.
But in the last month two tenants within East Durham Business Service’s Novus Business Centre have moved to bigger offices as they undergo periods of growth.
Here Operations Director Denise Fielding looks at the reasons behind the success of the firms and the role EDBS has played in their growth.
“It’s a real challenge to turn a business idea into reality and harder still to make that business a success.
For most the aim is to get through the first year and from there look to become profitable.
It’s at that stage that a business might think about office space. And that’s a major decision as taking on a facility which is either too big or too expensive could seriously impact on longevity.
That’s why facilities like Novus Business Centre are so important. What we offer is spaces to cater for a sole trader right through to a business employing around 10 people – and therefore e can support a company’s growth through various stages of their development.
Two such positive examples are SSK Recruitment and QuickRebates.
Both companies have recently moved to bigger offices after undergoing periods of significant growth.
QuickRebates only launched a couple of years but has since won a number of contracts and added to the team, meaning it quickly outgrew its original office.
And the same has been the case with SSK. They’ve moved in last year but after experiencing regional growth and opening a second office in Bishop Auckland, they decided to take on a bigger unit within Novus.
It’s great to see and is a real motivator for new businesses and some of our smaller tenants, who can see that with a bit of hard work they too can achieve growth – and our centre is the perfect environment to achieve that.
